[Deutsch] Hallo ihr Lieben, ich war leider relativ lange inaktiv und das tut mir echt Leid! In erster Linie hatte ich viele Probleme während der Arbeit, weswegen ich für eine Weile demotiviert war und nichts mehr geschrieben habe. Mein Freund und ich haben trotzdem in dieser Zeit eine Menge Anime geguckt und das möchte ich euch nicht länger enthalten! Auf dem Bild oben seht ihr Charaktere des Action/Sci-Fi Anime "Psycho-Pass". Auch das deutsche Anime Magazin Animania hat sich schon mit der Serie befasst, denn in Deutschland wird Psycho-Pass sehr bald auf Deutsch von Kazé Anime angeboten.
Jedenfalls sollte dies nur ein schnelles Update werden, ich habe meinen Blog sicherlich nicht vergessen! :)
[English] Hey guys, I've been inactive for quite a bit and I'm really sorry for that! I had to go through some tough times during work, which is why I've been a bit depressed and demotivated to do anything else. My boyfriend and me though have been watching one anime after another. The picture above shows the main cast of an Action/Sci-Fi anime called "Psycho Pass". I can't wait to release my review about this series, I've been in love with it!
Anyway, this was supposed to be a quick update so you know I didn't forget about my blog! :)
[German] Dieser Screenshot ging gestern so ziemlich einmal komplett durch das ganze World Wide Web. Dabei sehen wir eigentlich nur eine verdammt alte Pokémon Edition und einen komischen Namen ("AA-j"). Und rechts daneben den Buchstaben 'a' und Pfeile. Was hat das zu bedeuten?
Auf twitch.tv, einer Live-Streaming-Plattform, gibt es einen Kanal, der TwitchPlaysPokémon heißt. Auf diesem Stream sieht man eigentlich nichts anderes, als das Pokémon gespielt wird. Normalerweise wird die Live-Streaming-Plattform von einem Streamer genutzt, der mit anderen Leuten teilen möchte, was und wie er spielt. Aber wie der Name TwitchPlaysPokémon vielleicht verrät, ist es nicht so, denn bei diesem Kanal kann jeder und zwar wirklich jeder, der sich im Twitch Chat beteiligen kann, das Spiel beeinflussen. Dazu muss man einfach nur die jeweiligen Tasten im Chat eingeben, (man kann natürlich auch irgendetwas anderes eingeben um mit anderen Leuten zu chatten, das wird dann eben vom Pokémon Programm nicht registriert) also eben 'a', 'b', 'up', 'left', 'down', 'right' und 'start'.
Und das, was ihr auf dem Screenshot seht, ist das Bild vom Sieg: die Twitch Community hat es tatsächlich geschafft, innerhalb von zwei Wochen dieses Spiel zu Ende zu spielen und den letzten Arenaleiter zu besiegen!
[English] This screenshot has been pretty much all over the World Wide Web. Even though we only see a damn old Pokémon edition, some weird name ("AA-j") and a bunch of letters and arrows on the right side. What does that mean?
The live streaming video platform twitch.tv has many different channels, one of them being TwitchPlaysPokémon. On this stream you wouldn't see anything else besides Pokémon being played. Usually a streaming channel is used by one person, who wants to share what and how he plays with other people. But as the name TwitchPlaysPokémon alright indicates, it's not just one person but it's actually the whole community of Twitch who is able to participate in playing Pokémon. You only need to type the controls you want to use into the chat, such as 'a', 'b', 'up', 'left', 'down', 'right' und 'start'. Of course, you can just type anything else as well, to comment or to chat with people. But that's not registered as a command and doesn't affect the game at all.
So, what do you actually see on the screenshot? It's not just some random screenshot taken somewhen in the game, but it's a screenshot of victory - the moment, when the twitch community finally beat the last Gym Leader, the moment they all have become the new Pokémon Master.
The Last Battle
[German] Ich weiß ja noch nicht, wie fasziniert ihr von diesem Konzept seid, aber wenn nicht, teile ich noch ein paar weitere Infos mit euch: beim letzten Arenaleiter Kampf haben ganze 90,000 Leute Live zugeguckt!! Und das ist für einen twitch Kanal wirklich sehr viel! Und stellt euch mal vor, dass fast 90,000 Leute die Möglichkeit dazu hatten, an diesem Chat teil zu nehmen.
Ich habe extra ein Video vom letzten Kampf rausgesucht, wo man den eigentlichen Chat nämlich mitlesen kann. Es ist wirklich lustig mitzulesen. vor allem wenn das letzte Pokémon besiegt wird. Der ganze Chat rastet total aus! Und es ist Spam pur. Wirklich, Spam pur! Dass die Pokémon dann komische Namen wie "AA-j" haben ist auch kein Wunder. Plus, und hier kommt's: die Befehle werden erst mit einer 20-40 Sekunden langen Verzögerung registriert. Wenn man also wirklich ernsthaft an diesem Spiel mitwirken will, muss man daran denken, was andere Leute schon im Chat spammen, und was man in 20-40 Sekunden machen muss.
Ich weiß noch, wie ich vor 1 1/2 Wochen bereits den Link zum Kanal bekommen habe, und da war es auch nicht anders. Dein Charakter rennt die ganze Zeit im Kreis, oder gegen Wände, in Kämpfen benutzt man vielleicht nicht die sinnvollste Attacke und wie soll man denn starke Pokémon fangen?
Und tja, aus irgendeinem Grund hat die Twitch Community gewonnen. Nicht nur gegen den letzten Arenaleiter, sondern sie haben auch gegen die Zeitverzögerung gewonnen, gegen die Spammer und die 'Trolls' (die, die z.B. jedes Mal das Menü aufrufen, obwohl es wirklich gar keinen Sinn macht).
[English] I don't know how much you are already taken by the concept, if not, then let me share this with you: around 90,000 people were watching the last Gym Leader fight LIVE!! And that's one hell of a number for a twitch channel! And imagine 90,000 people being able to influence the game by typing in the controls.
I was even looking for a video of the last Gym Leader fight which would show the twitch chat as well. It's really funny, expecially the moment when you beat the last Pokémon. Everyone was going crazy! And it's just spam. An insane amount of spam! It's not surprising anymore, when Pokémon have weird names such as "AA-j" or so. In addition, and here it comes: the commands you type in will be registered with a 20 to 40 seconds delay. So if you honestly want to participate in this game, you also need to consider which controls people have been spamming the last seconds and predict which controls you are going to need in 20 to 30 seconds.
I still remember how I received a link to this channel around 1 1/2 weeks ago and it wasn't much different. Your character runs in a circle, runs against walls, during fights you use pointless attacks and how are you supposed to catch strong Pokémon?
Well yeah, for some reason the twitch community still won. Not only did they win against the last Gym Leader, but have also overcome delays, spammers and 'trolls' (those people who type 'start' for the menu all the time, even though it's just not needed).
[German] Und wie das Internet so ist, gibt es eine Meeeenge Witze und Memes die seitdem rumgehen. Noch bevor die Spieler das Ende des Spiels erreichten, bildeten sich "Religionen" für die Pokémon die man hatte. Ich möchte nicht näher zur Entstehungsgeschichte eingehen (wer möchte, kann sich dafür den Artikel auf kotaku.com durchlesen), so wurde dieses Pokémon als "Lord Helix" verehrt (Originalname auf Deutsch ist Amonitas, auf Englisch Omanyte) und Taubsi war dann "Bird Jesus". Es gibt viele, lustige und kuriose Bilder die kreuz und quer durch das Internet gehen, mittlerweile hat TwitchPlaysPokémon auch ein eigenes Subbreddit.
[English] And well you know how the internet works. Ever since, there have been a ton of jokes and memes going around. Even before finishing the game, 'religions' started to break out for each Pokémon you had. I don't want go into too many details, if you want to know more about it you can check the article on kotaku.com. So, Omanyte was praised as "Lord Helix" and Pidget as "Bird Jesus". Not only has the internet been full of Pokémon jokes but they even have an own Subbreddit now.
[German] Und jetzt? Tja, nachdem gestern das Spiel vorbei war, war im Stream ein Countdown zu sehen. 24 Stunden bis das nächste Abenteuer anfängt. Und heute fing es wieder an, pünktlich um 13 Uhr war Twitch Plays Pokémon wieder da und spielen die Crystal Edition. Und um kurz nach 13 Uhr waren es wieder fast 70,000 Leute, die zugeguckt haben. Wahnsinn! Wer Lust hat, sich das Chaos mal anzugucken kann das gerne tun. Ich hab da jedenfalls meinen Spaß dran, auch wenn unser Hauptcharaker "AJDNNW" soeben das vierte Mal gestorben ist, und die ganze Zeit im Kreis rennt.
[English] What now? Well, after the game was finished yesterday, the stream enabled a countdown. 24 hours until the next adventure. And today it started again, pretty much on the point at 1PM Twitch Plays Pokémon was back and started a new adventure on the Crystal Edition. And shortly after 1PM, already 70,000 people were watching! Crazy! Whoever feels like tuning into the chaos, go ahead. I'm having my fun, even though our main character "AJDNNW" already died four times and is running in circles.
